Youtube can be a wonderful thing. You can ask Youtube how to do just about anything and it will magically present all kinds of “how to” videos to help you do whatever you are trying to do. Just type in “how to install a radiator in a 2003 Honda Civic” and bam… there is a list of videos to show you how! What a wonderful and helpful tool! I use it often. How to install steel siding on a pole barn? How to wipe and restore a 6th generation iPad? How to build a downdraft table? Those are all fairly recent searches that I have conducted — and there is Youtube giving me the hand-up that I need.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
It’s truly amazing if you think about it. The Creator God of all that we know and experience listens to us when come to Him in prayer. Prayer should bring us a deep sense of peace because we know God is all-powerful, cares for us deeply, and that he has good plans for our future. As helpful as Youtube can be, how much more so is an all-powerful and all-knowing benevolent Father God?
Next week, (August 4) in our church services we are going to celebrate communion and have an extended time of prayer during our worship services. We will have some folks ready to pray with you if you so desire. Remember Jesus’ challenge? “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 NLT Next week will be an opportunity to have some of your Christian Family join you in seeking God for a need in your life. What do you need God to do in your life?
