If you had to pick three or four defining moments in your life, what would they be? We all probably have those moments in our lives that would rank as memorable and key to who we have become today. It’s amazing how quickly the trajectory of your life can change. Maybe it was when you uttered the words, “I do.” Perhaps it was the joy of telling loved ones, “It’s a girl!” How about the time you prayed and asked Jesus to forgive you for your sins and to become your Lord and Savior. Moments that reshaped you as a person.
I am praying for people in our community to have one of those life-defining moments by meeting Jesus. Let’s be real… there is no more life-defining event than that! What could be more distinctive than having your eternal destiny altered?
I am trusting that what we do on Serve Your World Day may lead to some of those life-defining moments. Relationships built that could lead to people finding Jesus. We will be sending teams to visit folks in the nursing homes of our community and to Mercy Hospital, sharing the love of Jesus with them.
We will be having several community block parties in various neighborhoods of Willard and will provide breakfast, fun and community, while we serve people and build new friendships. And we will be serving folks who need some sort of help.
I have a friend from my last church who came to know Jesus as his Savior through an invitation to attend a classic car show at our church. As folks demonstrated kindness to him and developed friendships with him, Cliff eventually came to understand that the love and community he felt from his new friends was because of the love of Jesus Christ. Today, he is having a high impact on the Kingdom of Jesus, and he absolutely has the spiritual gift of evangelism.
Would you join me in prayer that God will take our simple efforts and use them to change lives? He can do that, you know. May Serve Your World Day be a time that Jesus brings glory to himself! May He teach us lessons of faith in the hope of the Gospel! And may He use us for his purposes to accomplish His will on earth!
