Lauri and I just picked two bushels of apples from our apple tree this week and we probably only picked 25-30% of the tree. We have a ton of apples, which is a good thing because apples are my favorite fruit. Can you say, apple pie, apple sauce, apple dumplings… yum!
Picking and processing all of the apples from our tree is going to be a lot of work… but it will be worth it, and we are grateful for the bountiful harvest.
As we picked those apples I couldn’t help but think of Jesus’ words in Matthew… “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38 NLT
You know, no follower of Jesus is exempt from the Great Commission. We all are expected to carry on the mission of making Jesus known to the entire world. We can accomplish this task through prayer, the use of our resources and by sharing the Gospel with our neighbors and around the world.
I am looking forward to our Missions Weekend on October 5 & 6. I hope you will join us as we hear what God is doing in Germany and in Cleveland by folks who are on the front lines of expanding Jesus’ Kingdom.
Here is a list of what will be offered. Saturday: 8AM — Family Breakfast with Caleb Kohl from Germany, Willow Run Outreach Lunch, 12:30PM, Students — 6PM Cookout at Pastor Bart’s with Caleb Kohl. Sunday: morning church services at Maple Street and 224, 12PM — Church Lunch with Caleb Kohl from Germany and Tom and Nicole Schmidt from Cleveland. I hope you will join us as we learn together what God is doing in Cleveland and Germany and how we can play a role in spreading the message of Jesus!
