This past week I have been angry… a lot. Technology and its surveillance of us is sometimes rather unnerving, isn’t it? You know, you look up something to purchase on Amazon and suddenly Facebook and Google are flooding your accounts with similar items. Yeah, that kind of unnerving. Even worse is when I am talking about something to Lauri and then that subject matter mysteriously appears in some social media platform. I didn’t type it… shusssh… it HEARD me. Our phones are listening to us… our cars are listening to us… our TV’s are listening to us… come on… you know it’s true! Did you know that Alexa has heard crimes being committed in homes and dialed the police and reported those crimes “herself”? It’s true.
Okay, call me a conspiracy theorist — go ahead. Sometimes I say things out-loud that frustrate me about my truck when I am driving — Chrysler is listening… O yeah they are! I tell our TV when I am sick of some annoying drug commercial that is 3 minutes long and pushing a medication that has the side of effect of explosive flatulence and bleeding from the eyes. “Stop playing that stupid commercial, I hate it!” “I know you can hear me!!!”
Well… if you are still reading… in my defense, it has been awhile since I let fly a rant. Back to being angry a lot this week. I looked up and was watching a couple of video reels on Facebook by Pastor Josh Howerton of Lakepointe Church. I really like that guy, and suddenly my Facebook reels were filled with all kinds of sermon clips from all kinds of churches. And as I viewed some of the putrid, vile and downright blasphemous things that supposed pastors told their church people from a corrupt pulpit; I wanted to vomit. And the more I watched, THE MORE INFURIATED I BECAME. Not kidding, if for some reason I had been visiting one of these churches I would have stood up and rebuked that “pastor” in the name of Jesus — publicly.
My reel feed was FLOODED with this corrupt teaching and false gospel. I thought about the Apostle Paul when he became frustrated with someone in a community preaching a false Gospel and how he would call them out… and now… today… blasphemy and false gospels appear to be EVERYWHERE. How can we address EVERYWHERE?
God is non-binary… Jesus didn’t really mean he was the ONLY way to heaven in John 14… homosexuality is part of God’s great design… all religions lead to the same God… Jesus was actually gay… no… he was married… no he had an affair with Mary Magdalene… I don’t ever sin anymore… I’m pretty good looking and women come up to me and show me their breasts, but I don’t sin when I see them (said a dude who was about 75)… all of these… I heard “pastors” tell their people. All of them! Not made up. No exaggeration… no embellishment… I heard them all!
I am so angry when I think of all the people being misled by these wolves in sheep’s clothing. I want to flip over some pulpits… I want to march around church buildings blowing trumpets… I want to call down fire from heaven! What is the answer to the anti-church that is so prevalent today? SMH… I don’t know. I know God knows… but I sure don’t.
O Church! People are streaming and jostling their way to Hell, and there are far too many “churches” and “ministers” who are holding the very gates open for them. The true Church of Jesus Christ is commissioned to make it difficult for people to go to Hell! We are to stand along the byway and warn them of destruction! We are to implore them not to go there! We have the true gospel of Jesus Christ that is more precious than gold and our work is far from completed.
Today, I’m still angry. I believe this to be righteous anger. And I pray… “Lord, show me what you would have me do.” Amen.
